Moving house!

So me and the boys have had an absolutely crazy week, but we have now officially moved house!

We have moved over to another equestrian centre in the Redcar and Cleveland area.

Luckily because Prince has been all over the country showing, staying in different yards for upto a week he didn’t seem to find it too stressful, and baby Pride just found it quite exciting!

Me, on the other hand, found it just, well …. CRAZY.

You never realize the amount of stuff you have for your horses untill you have to move it! (I never realized how many of the same thing i have either, I found 9 feed buckets …. NINE! i have 2 horses!)

Luckily, I have my own transport, so that made things much easier in the sense I could move everything all at once.

P.S, the amount of rugs I own is beyond belief.ImageImage

Anybody else find it as hectic or was it just me?!

Well! What do you think?

So tonight is one of the worst nights for horse owners! I didn’t want to leave my horses tonight, but they didn’t seem to be too bothered by the noise.

After speaking to a few people at my yard about their tips and ideas to keep their horses calm on loud nights like this.

1) The main point was to make your horse as comfortable as possible, plenty of hay and water, and nice cozy rug (weight depending on the weather).

2) Add some sort of yummy treat that they can munch on throughout the night, maybe a likit or a treat ball.

3) Put some sort of fun activity in the stable like carrots in a tightly packed hay net, apples in the water buckets, or even a football!

4) One friend, (which actually sounds a bit crazy but makes complete sense!) said, if you have a close electrical supply, put a CD or leave the radio on at a low enough level not to disturb but to almost blank out the noise from fireworks.

5) And if all of these fail, I would suggest a good old fashioned calmer in their tea time feed, or instant calmer, like NAF Magic tubes.

Hope you and all your horses have a calm and quiet bonfire night!

And let me know of your hints, tips and ideas for keeping your horses calm on the noisiest of all nights!

Showjumping!

Me and Prince decided we wanted to do something different this weekend, so on Saturday we decided to go to Northallerton and do some showjumping.
Considering he’s only been jumping around about a year now, he completed a 1 metre course with no effort and a clear round!
Then as I was about to get off and untack I was told to stay on for the prize giving and it turned out we had won!
What an amazing day it was, thank you to everyone who helped, groomed and also Northallerton Equestrian Centre for holding the event.

This is me and my horse Prince, and Danielle Rodham with her horse Solo winning our first ever pairs class in 2011 at our first big affiliated show!
